Why should You consider making walking with ILUUM poles a daily/weekly habit? What should You take away from the years of living with Covid-19?
For the past couple of years we have all been in one way or another affected by Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2). We are able to identify the symptoms - cough, fever and difficulty in breathing - and learned that the majority of Covid-19 survivors struggle with poor perceived physical and mental health and reduced diffusion capability (a comprehensive series of pulmonary function tests to determine the overall ability of the lung to transport gas into and out of the blood). In order to regain normal lung function people turn to rehabilitation — and nordic walking is one of them.
While there is limited research available on Nordic walking in Post Covid-19 patients, we do know the results and effects of oxygen intake while Nordic walking versus Walking. Until further clinically proven studies, we leave it to your decision to try out nordic walking as a part of your Post Covid-19 rehabilitation method.
Those of you looking to improve your health/ immune system and prevent catching the virus, We at ILUUM strongly suggest making walking with ILUUM poles a daily habit, weekly at the least.
This is where ILUUM poles come to play.
Terje Muuli, the CEO of ILUUM is continuously working on digging deeper into finding the meaning behind the health benefits of nordic walking and explaining them to You, ILUUM followers. And so, out of her curiosity she made it a priority to test her oxygen intake during walking versus nordic walking. In cooperation with the University of Tartu, using ILUUM HECT poles and a Cosmed oxygen mask, Terje did 10-minute indoor field laps with variations of 1) warm-up walk, 2) regular walk and lastly 3) nordic walking, all of them at a speed 10km/h. Resting periods followed after each session. As anticipated, nordic walking resulted with the highest oxygen intake levels with a Vo2Max higher than walking.
